Men’s and women’s basketball head coaches Mark Turgeon and Brenda Frese join in during the dance at last year’s Maryland Madness on Oct 17, 2014 at the Xfinity Center.

With Magic Maryland Madness coming to College Park on Saturday, it’s clear: Basketball season is just around the corner.

NCAA.com recently released a list of Midnight Madness events for this season, and guess what? Maryland — which invented the original Midnight Madness — isn’t on it.

Oh no.

Why would they leave us off? We set out to see how other schools are putting their own spin on the tradition and some answers. Here’s what we found:

UConn’s “first night“ has a glow-in-the-dark theme.

Is this a college or a preschool?

Pitt had Wiz Khalifa perform at its #zooafterhours, which is probably the coolest thing you’ll find on this list (afterward, he was cited for public urination).

2 Chainz will be performing at Georgetown’s “Hoya Hoops Madness.”

At Michigan State’s Midnight Madness, both coaches wear “surprise costumes.”

Last year, men’s head coach Tom Izzo came out dressed as a member of KISS, which was truly nightmarish.

Sick, guys.

Duke’s Countdown to Craiziness is going head-to-head with Maryland Madness on Oct. 17, not that they attract the same audience.

Honestly, there’s not much information on Duke’s event. From what I can tell, they just do team intros and then they scrimmage. It’s like they’re not even good. Note: Duke is going to be very good this year, as usual.

North Carolina’s “Late Night with Roy” is pretty much the same event as every other school.

The event does have its own twitter account though, featuring this GIF of Roy Williams.

Iowa State’s Hilton Madness is only in its second year.

The event features a dunk contest, 3-point competition and shooting stars competition.

None of the news releases explain at all what a “shooting stars competition is,” but maybe it’s better that way.
