Maryland women’s lacrosse’s Lizzie Colson, Brindi Griffin and Grace Griffin were named preseason All-Americans, Inside Lacrosse announced Monday.

Colson, who was selected for the first team, was also named a second-team All-American by Inside Lacrosse in 2018. The two-time All-Big Ten defender redshirted the 2020 season due to an ACL injury. The start of the 2021 season will mark the first time she will take the field for a competitive match since Maryland’s title win against Boston College in 2019.

Brindi Griffin, chosen for the third team, makes her second consecutive appearance on the preseason All-American list. The attacker delivered for the Terps in their shortened season, leading the team with 15 goals in the six games played in 2020. Griffin opted to use her extra year of eligibility granted by the NCAA due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grace Griffin garnered her third straight mention on the preseason All-American list. The 2018 Big Ten Freshman of the Year is a key presence in Maryland’s midfield, a unit that held onto all of its key playmakers. Griffin has been a constant for the Terps; she’s never missed a game in her Maryland career.

The Terps are set to begin play later this year. No schedule has been released yet.
